General

EchoDepth Events is a camera-based emotion intelligence platform for tradeshows, exhibitions and events. It uses 44 FACS-compliant Action Units to measure real audience emotional responses — engagement, confusion, delight, scepticism — in real time, without storing any personal data.

EchoDepth Events is deployed at tradeshows, exhibitions, conferences, seminars, product launches, public exhibitions, corporate events, and live demonstrations. Any event environment where understanding audience emotional engagement has commercial value is a candidate.

Surveys rely on self-reporting and suffer from low response rates (often under 3%). Badge scans measure footfall, not engagement. EchoDepth Events measures the emotional signal of every visitor in the camera zone, in real time, with no response rate problem and no participant bias.

Technology

The Facial Action Coding System (FACS) is a taxonomy of 44 discrete facial muscle movements (Action Units) developed by psychologists Paul Ekman and Wallace Friesen. It is the gold standard for systematic analysis of human facial expression, used in clinical psychology, forensic analysis, and emotion AI. EchoDepth analyses all 44 AUs to produce emotional state classifications.

The platform detects and scores: Engagement, Confusion, Delight, Scepticism, Disengagement, Surprise, Frustration, and Neutral states. These are aggregated into three primary signals: Confidence Score, Instability Score, and Net Confidence.

EchoDepth Events is hardware-agnostic and works with standard commercial IP cameras. No specialist hardware purchase is required. The platform integrates with event-hire camera systems and existing venue CCTV infrastructure where access is permitted.

Typical end-to-end latency is under 3 seconds from capture to dashboard display, enabling real-time monitoring and intervention during live events.

A medium-sized stand (6×9m) typically uses 4–6 camera positions. A large stand (12×12m or more) may use 8–12 positions. We advise on optimal positioning as part of the deployment service, based on your stand layout and zone priorities.

Privacy

No. Raw video frames are processed on the edge device and deleted immediately. No facial images, video footage, biometric templates, or facial geometry data are stored, transmitted, or retained at any point. Only anonymised numerical emotional signal scores are kept.

Yes. EchoDepth Events is built to comply with GDPR Article 25 (Privacy by Design and by Default), UK GDPR, and EU GDPR. The system architecture makes storing personal data structurally impossible.

No. The derived emotional scores (Confidence, Instability, Net Confidence) do not allow identification of any individual. They do not constitute biometric data under GDPR Article 4(14). This has been reviewed by our data protection advisors. We recommend independent legal confirmation for your specific deployment.

In most deployment contexts, individual consent is not required because no personal data is processed from visitors. Standard CCTV/video analytics signage informing visitors that analytical cameras are in use is typically sufficient. We provide a DPIA template and recommend legal review for specific deployments.

Because no individual data is collected, there is no personal data to opt out from. Visitors who do not wish to be present in the camera field of view can simply move to areas outside camera coverage.

Live dashboard data is available in real time during the event. Post-event analytics data is retained for 90 days after event close to support reporting. Video footage is never retained. See our full Data Retention Policy for details.

No. EchoDepth Events can be deployed for a single event with no ongoing commitment. Multi-event and annual contracts attract significant discounts.

Yes — this is one of the most common use cases. The post-event report includes an executive summary designed specifically for internal stakeholder presentation, translating emotion data into business outcomes.

Deployment

For a standard stand deployment, setup takes approximately 2–4 hours on the day before the event opens. Remote configuration is completed by our team in advance. You receive login credentials to the dashboard before the event opens.

The system is designed for resilience. If a camera feed is interrupted, the system flags the gap in the dashboard and continues processing available feeds. Missed data is noted in the post-event report.

Yes. Multiple zones can be configured with different labels and analytical parameters, making it possible to run analytics across a shared stand with clearly delineated zone reporting.

A standard broadband or 4G connection at the stand is required for real-time dashboard delivery. If connectivity is unreliable, the system can operate in offline mode and sync data at intervals.

Training

Yes. Post-event emotion data provides a powerful coaching resource — showing which staff interactions generated engagement vs confusion, which pitches resonated, and where messaging improvements would have the greatest impact. We offer a staff coaching report as an add-on.

Each event generates benchmarked data that informs the next one. Over multiple deployments, exhibitors build an evidence base of what messaging, stand layouts, product positions, and staff approaches generate the strongest emotional engagement — enabling continuous improvement.
