EchoDepth Events is built by Cavefish Ltd — an emotion AI company founded in Cardiff, Wales in 2023. We help organisations understand what people genuinely feel, not just what they say.
Our Mission
The gap between what people say and what they feel is one of the most persistent problems in business. Surveys, NPS scores and satisfaction ratings all measure reported sentiment — filtered through memory, social desirability, and the limits of language. We build technology that measures emotional response directly, objectively, and without burdening the people being measured.
EchoDepth Events applies this to the events and exhibitions market — an industry that spends billions annually on tradeshows, exhibitions and conferences with remarkably little objective measurement of what actually lands with audiences.
The Technology
EchoDepth is built on the Facial Action Coding System (FACS) — the gold standard for systematic facial expression analysis developed by Dr Paul Ekman and Dr Wallace Friesen in 1978. Our computer vision engine analyses all 44 FACS Action Units in real time, mapping AU activation patterns to emotional states including engagement, confusion, delight and scepticism.
Analysis happens at the edge — on a processing unit deployed at the venue — and raw video frames are discarded immediately after AU extraction. No face images, biometric data or personal information is retained or transmitted. This is not a policy choice: it is an architectural constraint that makes biometric data retention technically impossible.
The Company
Cavefish Ltd was founded in September 2023 and is registered in England and Wales (Company No. 15127122), headquartered in Cardiff, Wales. Since founding, Cavefish has completed two accelerator programmes and been recognised with 13 industry awards across AI innovation, event technology, and data privacy categories. Our work has been featured in The Daily Telegraph.
We are members of AI Wales CIC and sit on the Technology Connected Wales Data & AI Council.
